Punya Mishra is a professor of Educational Psychology & Educational Technology at the college of Education at Michigan State University. He directs the Master of Arts in Educational Technology programme and is the programme co-chair of the SITE 2011 conference at Nashville. He was also the former chairman of the Innovation & Technology Committee of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.
Seminar:
The Seven Trans-Disciplinary Habits of Mind: Extending the TPACK Framework Towards 21st Century learning
In the seminar, Prof Punya examines the need for fostering transformative learning, emphasizing the roles that trans-disciplinary thinking and recent technologies can play in creating the transformative teaching and learning of the 21st century. He will introduce the Technological, Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework as a starting point for discussing the special kinds of knowledge, skills, and understanding that teachers require in order to become effective classroom mediators of transformative learning experiences. Within this framework, Prof Punya proposes seven cognitive tools needed for success in the new millennium, and describes examples of how teachers can repurpose digital technologies to use these cognitive tools. Together with the participants, he will explore the implications for research and practice.

Putting TPACK into Practice: An interdisciplinary approach
The workshop session follows from the seminar. This is where Prof Punya will take teachers through a more hands-on session and give participants ideas and strategies.
