We exist for one reason

Ingenuity: Design, Build, Test, Learn

12 & 13 July 2010, 2.30pm - 5.30pm

For Primary Schools' Science Teachers

Can students learn science by inventing and testing model toys? It's the best way! Learn simple, low cost activities and the innovation approach to make it work.

Teachers work in small teams to build and test models and create solutions to fun problems. When teachers replicate these in the classroom students learn the science concepts and develop the self-confidence and skills they need to explore further on their own. The workshop is presented in an "ingenuity" or fast prototype where lecturing is minimized, and teachers discover how they can use the activities in their classroom. Materials used are inexpensive and commonly available. This is a highly motivating and engaging experience that teachers love.

What you will learn

          • New science activities that engage students instantly
            - build and launch rockets, build model cars, make flying models that teach science
          • How to transform your existing teaching into a more powerful experience for students
            - follow a simple formula to re-orient your lesson plans
          • How to build interest in science in even the most reluctant students
          • How to get better scholastic results with less work
          • How to transform science education into fun and successful learning

Dr Ed Sobey is conducting the following workshops as well:
