This workshop is aligned to MOE's plan to impart 21st Century Skills to all student learners in Singapore, across the different school education levels by 2015. 21st Century Skills aim to prepare our students for a new generation workforce.

Summary of 21st Century Skills

Information and Technology Skills

To be effective in the 21st century, students must be able to exhibit a range of critical thinking skills related to information, and technology.

Learning and Innovation Skills

A focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration is essential to prepare students for the future.

Life and career skills

    • Being versatile and adaptable to changes
    • Exhibiting initiative and self direction
    • Placing emphasis on productivity and accountability
    • Taking on leadership and responsibility

MOE’s 21st Century Skills Framework

21st Century Skills and socio-emotional Competencies
  10.30am Tea Break
  11am - 1pm Introduce a whole school approach on how to adopt the 21st Century Skills Framework. Ways to Integrate 21st Century Skills in English, Maths, Science that allow for:
  • Critical Thinking
  • Creativity and Innovation
  1pm - 2pm Lunch
  2pm - 5pm Subject Specific Focus - English, Maths, Science

The focus of the afternoon session will be re-designing lesson plans for Primary English, Math and Science, so as to allow for more critical thinking and collaborative learning in the classroom.

The IT enablers used in this workshop are designed to facilitate a provocative problem-based learning environment that allows students to be risk takers and decision makers.
