Educare is one of the biggest education manpower service provider with more than 270 staff deployed to two-third of the schools in Singapore. It began in 2004 when the Singapore Teachers' Union (STU) piloted the Teacher's Assistant scheme to assist teachers in non-teaching duties, so that teachers, relieved of chores, can focus more on classroom instruction.

Teacher assistants were also meant to be paraprofessionals who can help teachers manage difficult or inattentive students as well as those with special needs, supervise group, project work and school activities, prepare resources, and provide instructions in specialized areas such as Music and Art.

There were challenges during the initial phase but with STU’s expertise in providing educational activities and services, Educare earnestly marketed the scheme to school principals, vice-principals, administrators and heads of departments. Job Re-creation Programme (JRP) funding was also sourced from NTUC to re-skill the teachers’ assistants before they were placed in schools. Over the years, the training subjects did not stay stagnant as they were reviewed and updated through feedback from the teacher assistants and their employers. The objective was to empower the teacher’s assistants to contribute to their schools with relevant knowledge and skills such as the handling of children with special educational needs.

Since then, our scope of services has grown to include the provision of other types of manpower, cutting edge e-learning solutions and school-based workshops to the schools in Singapore. Being educators ourselves, Educare understands the various needs of the schools and so we source out partners who can provide a range of services relevant to teaching and learning to deliver to schools.

At the same time, the hassle from working with multiple suppliers is minimised through the personalised service of a relationship manager for each school.

We also bring e-learning solutions to schools through our collaboration with Litespeed Education.
